Leaky Roof and Slippery Court at Navelim's Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium Endanger Athletes

With the arrival of the monsoon, the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium in Navelim is once again grappling with water leakage issues, sparking serious concerns over athlete safety. Rainwater is reportedly seeping through roof-mounted exhaust fans, creating puddles on the wooden court—conditions that have led to several slips and injuries.

Despite previous complaints and a temporary fix tested last year, no permanent repairs were carried out during the dry season. A recent on-site inspection revealed the continued use of buckets to collect dripping water and visible damage to the wooden flooring.

Frustrated by the inaction, a concerned citizen has issued a legal notice to the Sports Authority of Goa, demanding remedial action within seven days or threatening legal proceedings. The notice underscores multiple incidents of injuries resulting from the unsafe playing surface.

Athletes and coaches are calling on authorities to address the problem urgently and implement a long-term solution before further harm is done.
