MARGAO: Margao Town Police arrested Vishaya Gaude of Sao Jose de Areal, and Soniya alias Roshan Somnath Achari of Achariwada-Sadashivgad, Karwar in a cash for job scam.
Margao Town Police said that based on a complaint filed by Sunil Borkar of Nagmoddem, Navelim, an offence has been registered against the duo under Section 420 r/w 34 of IPC.
The police said that as per complaint between January 20, 2020 and June 30,2020, on several occasions Vishaya and Soniya with their common intentions dishonestly induced the complainant to pay an amount of Rs. 16,12,500 on the pretext of providing job at Karwar and fraudulently accepted an amount from the complainant and his family members, thereby dishonestly cheated the complainant.
The Margao police said that the duo will be produced before court to obtain remand.
Dhavali teacher’s remand extended
PONDA: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on Thursday extended the police remand of Dhavali-based school teacher Yogesh Kunkolienkar, arrested by the Ponda Police in the cash-for-jobs scam, by two days.
Kunkolienkar was produced before the JMFC after his initial three-day remand expired.
Sangam Bandodkar from Bandora, in his complaint stated that Yogesh induced him to pay Rs 11.5 lakh cash offering to provide a government job for his daughter and thereby cheated the complainant. Yogesh also collected money from 20 job aspirants in Dhavali and surrounding areas to the tune of Rs 1.20 crore.
According to police, Yogesh collected money and handed it over to Shruti Prabhugaonkar from Porvorim, who has been arrested in the case.
