In keeping with age-old tradition, farmers in Morjim recently performed the revered 'Nangar Puja', a ritual that marks the beginning of the agricultural ploughing season.

The ritual, which involves worshipping the plough (nangar), is deeply rooted in local farming culture and symbolizes a prayer for a bountiful harvest. Farmers gathered in their fields to offer flowers, coconuts, and prayers to the tools and land that sustain their livelihood.

“Nangar Puja is not just a ceremony; it's a reminder of our connection to the soil and our dependence on nature,” said a local farmer.

The event reflects Goa’s rich agrarian heritage and signals the start of renewed activity in the fields as monsoon preparations begin in earnest.
