Calangute police have registered a case of negligence against a dog owner after a Rottweiler attacked and bit a 60-year-old man at Anawada, Candolim, on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at around 9:45 am as the victim was walking along a footpath after returning from the Candolim market. According to reports, the Rottweiler suddenly pounced on the unsuspecting pedestrian and bit him on the leg.
The injured man was immediately rushed to the Candolim Primary Health Centre, where he was treated and later discharged.
Following the attack, the victim lodged a complaint with the Calangute police later in the evening. Based on his complaint, a case was registered against the dog owner for negligent handling of a dangerous animal.
Police Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kanolkar is investigating the matter under the supervision of Police Inspector Paresh Naik. Authorities have urged pet owners to ensure proper control over their animals in public areas to prevent such incidents.
