Tension prevailed in the Ansabhat area of Mapusa after unidentified miscreants allegedly set municipal garbage bins on fire late Wednesday night. According to local sources, six bins were completely gutted in the incident, raising concerns among residents and municipal authorities.
The motive behind the act remains unclear, and no group or individual has claimed responsibility. The incident has triggered alarm in the locality, with citizens demanding stronger security measures to prevent such acts of vandalism.
Mapusa Municipal officials confirmed the damage and stated that a complaint would be filed with the local police. “This kind of behavior not only disrupts public services but also poses a serious fire hazard in residential areas,” an official said.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the culprits. An investigation is currently underway.
