The growing camaraderie between Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat was on full display during their joint appearance at Sonsodo for the launch of the dense forest scheme. Speaking openly, Rane expressed deep respect for Kamat, calling him a senior leader whose guidance Goa urgently needs. “I have a tendency to pay respect to our seniors... Digambar Kamat is a senior politician and Goa is in need of his leadership. I believe in Kamat. He has brought me up and I am indebted to him,” Rane said, highlighting their close relationship and his gratitude for Kamat’s mentorship.
In turn, Kamat praised Rane as a dedicated innovator focused on public welfare, recalling Rane’s determination in introducing the 108 ambulance scheme during Kamat’s time as chief minister—a service that has saved countless lives. Kamat also expressed pride in Rane’s decision to launch the urban forest initiative in Margao, a project typically seen in international cities, applauding Rane for bringing it to Goa.
Their mutual respect goes beyond current projects, with Kamat acknowledging the support from Rane’s father, former chief minister Pratapsingh Rane, in preserving Margao’s Ana Fonte garden, as well as Vishwajit Rane’s efforts to tackle legacy waste at Sonsodo.
This public display of cooperation marks an important phase in their political partnership, with Rane crediting Kamat for his political growth and emphasizing Kamat’s leadership as crucial for Goa’s future.
