Goa’s first Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility gets clearance

PANJIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board has granted consent to establish to the State's first Common  Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility (CBMWTF), proposed at Kundaim Industrial estate.      
The project by Goa Waste Management Corporation, has  received environmental clearance  from the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority. GIDC has allotted 10,000 sq mtrs of land for the same.
On an average, the State generates around 180 tonnes of bio-medical waste per month. The CBMWTF will have treatment facilities like incineration, auto-claving or microwaving, chemical disinfection, shredder, effluent treatment plant, washing and others.
