PANJIM: The Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) has recently advertised 24 posts for Junior Scale Officers in the Personnel Department of the Government of Goa.

The basic requirement for candidates aspiring for these positions is a degree from a recognised university. There are four stages in the recruitment process for these positions which begins with a pre-screening test followed by a screening test, a written examination and finally an oral interview.

The written test comprises four papers carrying a total of 250 marks while the interview carries 40 marks and the minimum qualifying marks for the written test is 65 per cent for the general category and lesser cut-offs for the reserved categories.

Candidates selected for these positions are generally appointed as Under Secretary, Assistant Directors, Deputy Collectors etc and this is a highly sought-after position in the government service. Every year a few thousand apply for these posts but hardly a handful makes it to the interview stage.

GPSC Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha, when contacted informed that ever since the CBRT was introduced very few candidates qualify for the written examination and over the last six years the Commission has been finding it difficult to fill these positions.

He added that the GPSC has in these six years recommended 32 candidates and the government has accepted all the recommendations.
