IPSCDL, KTC launch Smart Transit Card and mobile app for travel in City’s e-buses

Cards available on mobile app and at kiosks at Panjim bus stand, Panjim ferry wharf, Panjim market, Miramar beach and GMC, Bambolim, for Rs 150

PANJIM: Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) and Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTC) on Wednesday launched Smart Transit Card and mobile app ‘Tummoc’ for passengers using its EV bus service in Panjim.

IPSCDL MD and CEO Sanjit Rodrigues said, “As part of our IT initiative, IPSCDL and KTC are introducing the Smart Transit Card and ‘Tummoc’ mobile app, which will integrate comprehensive smart transit solutions across our public transportation network in Panjim. This innovative approach will not only promote eco-friendly and cost-effective commuting but also enhance the overall commuter experience with features like real-time tracking, contactless payments and seamless travel. The ultimate aim is to have the Panjim bus project go conductor-less.”

He said from July 1 to 31, this year, around 68,603 passengers utilized the new intra-city bus service, with an average of 2,213 riders per day. The total ridership for August 2024 till date is 49,664.

Rodrigues said IPSCDL and KTC will initially offer cards for students, senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, HIV and cancer patients with a special concession besides offering prepaid wallet-based cards for general commuters with recharge options.

Issuance of Smart Transit Cards has been made available at specially set up kiosks arranged at Panjim Bus Stand, Panjim ferry wharf, Panjim market, Miramar beach and Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, he said adding the card can be availed online or at kiosk centres for Rs 150 (inclusive of GST). 

The ‘Tummoc’ app allows users to book tickets with QR code-based validation and access live details of schedules to keep commuters well-informed, he added.
