PANJIM: In continuation to the arrest of a Turkish national in a drug case, a joint operation by the Anti Narcotics Cell of Goa Police and Central Crime Branch, Bangalore led to the arrest of two persons who have allegedly been a part of an inter-state drug trafficking network.
ANC (Goa) Superintendent of Police Shobhit Saxena informed that the joint operation has exposed the network spread across Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.
“The joint operation busted the interstate drug trafficking network supplying high value party drugs to tourists and rich customers in parties. The network so far detected spreads across Karnataka, Kerala and Goa. On February 7, our team had arrested Murat Tas, a Turkish ex-army commando with Rs 71 lakh MDMA. The two teams in Goa and Bangalore coordinated for further raids and arrested two other associates in the network in Bangalore - Fayiz and Rashid with commercial quantities of MDMA and LSD worth around Rs 5 lakh on March 21,” he said in a press statement on Monday.
Owing to COVID 19 scare, the Goa ANC team, refrained from visiting the neighbouring team but provided maintained hi-tech surveillance on the network and leads to the Bangalore CB sleuths resulting in simultaneous raids at multiple locations.
“This is the first example of inter-state action by ANC and closely coordinated with Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bangalore CB. They acted swiftly and very professionally raided the two addresses. We are now focussing on breaking the supply chains,” the officer informed Herald. The two alleged drug peddlers have been remanded to judicial custody in Bangalore, and ANC will move the court to take over their custody in the coming days.
