Kamat slams Arnab for ‘malicious’ remark on Sonia

PANJIM: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Thursday slammed senior journalist Arnab Goswami for his "malicious" and "slanderous" remark against party President Sonia Gandhi during a television show. 

The Congress has also filed complaint against Goswami's remarks on the show aimed at Sonia Gandhi during a discussion on the Palghar incident in which three persons, including two sadhus, were lynched.

"Attack on INC President Sonia Gandhi by Arnab Goswami is highly condemnable. His use of malicious and slanderous language against India's daughter-in-law is unfounded and vilifying," Kamat tweeted. 

"I strongly condemn it and demand stringent action," he tweeted further. 

Meanwhile, two motorcycle-borne persons allegedly attacked Goswami's car in Mumbai and tried to break its glass window when he and his wife were on the way home in the early hours of Thursday.

BJP leaders, including State party president Sadanand Tanawade, condemned the alleged attack on Goswami.

Register FIR against Goswami: North Goa Congress 

MAPUSA: In a complaint, North Goa District Congress Committee has requested the Mapusa Police to register FIR against Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-chief of Republic TV and Republic Bharat TV channel and others for sedition, inciting hatred, contempt and promoting animosity against different religious groups and for defaming a State Government and performing acts prejudicial to maintenance of peace and harmony and promoting enmity between different religions. The Committee stated that Arnab hosted a show titled “Poochta hai Bharat” on Republic Bharat aired on April 21 on topic Santo ki hatya par sannataa kyu? referring to the crime committed by a mob in Palghar, Maharashtra where 3 including 2 sants were beaten to death on April 16.

S Goa Cong files complaint against Republic TV Editor-in-Chief

MARGAO: South Goa Congress Committee has filed a complaint against the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami for his alleged inflammatory statements on his channel to invoke hatred among different communities and used derogatory language against Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The complaint was filed by president Joseph Dias along with vice presidents Deepak Kharangate and Adv Yemane D'Souza and Treasurer Peter Gomes. 

The Congress alleged that Arnab deliberately made inflammatory statements on his channel to invoke hatred among different communities and used derogatory language against the Congress President.
