PANJIM: The State-owned Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) will buy 100 electric buses from the Olectra Greentech Limited and Evey Trans Private Limited (EVEY), the electric mobility leader and pioneer in electric bus manufacturing.
The KTC have issued letter of award (LOA) to the Evey Trans Pvt Ltd for supply of 100 electric buses under FAME-II scheme of the Government of India, on a Gross Cost Contract GCC)/OPEX model basis for a period of 12 years.
Evey Trans will procure these 100 electric buses from Olectra Greentech Limited (OLECTRA) and delivery them to the KTCL over a period of 12 months. During the contract period, the company will undertake the maintenance of these buses.
The value of these 100 electric bus contract is approximately Rs 140 crore.
Olectra Greentech Limited chairman and managing director K V Pradeep said that this is the second order received from the KTCL. Presently, the company is operating 30 eco-friendly electric buses in Goa and delivered another five buses recently.
These nine-metre air-conditioned buses have a seating capacity of 35+driver.The electronically controlled air suspension ensures a comfortable ride to the passengers. The buses are equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure the safety of the commuters, emergency button, USB sockets etc.
The lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery in the bus enables it to travel up to 200-km on a single charge based on traffic conditions. The technologically advanced electric bus has a regenerative braking system that allows the bus to recover part of the kinetic energy lost in braking.
With this new order, the company’s total order book is around 1530 for electric buses after considering the deliveries already made.
