PANJIM: The son of soil and Kargil war hero Lt Col Jesus Furtado took over as Commanding Officer of 1 Goa Battalion, National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Panjim on Tuesday.
Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Furtado was posted as Commanding Officer of a Meghalaya Battalion NCC prior to this appointment. He joined the Army in 1995. Lt Col Furtado completed his schooling at Loyola High School, Margao, and graduated from Chowgule College, where he was a distinguished NCC cadet.
Lt Col Furtado has served in nearly 15 states in the last 27 years.
He raised 42 Meghalaya Bn NCC from the scratch. Under his watch, five cadets went for Republic Day Contingent, while two were cadets commissioned as officers in Indian armed forces.
