MARGAO: Practises related to altering of result means a demoralising the artistes, mostly the folk artistes feel the three judges who have returned their honorarium and mementos back to the organisers to protest altering of result in recently held Margao Shigmotsav.
Margao Shigmotsav parade was held in Margao under the committee headed by Councillor Ravindra Naik. Three judges which include Mahendra Faldesai, Anant Agni and Suresh Naik. All the three judges had taken strong objection to altering their results.
Speaking to Herald, on behalf of all three, Mahendra Faldesai, who is famed folk-artists and had contributed a lot in this field, besides representing India at the international level expressed shock over the issue.
"Being a folk artiste we know how much struggle is faced by the artists and mostly those who are working hard to preserve the culture of Goa. Altering the result means a total injustice to those sincere artists,” said Faldesai.
He further informed that they were in shock after the result was out in the newspaper, which was changed.
"The group, which had bagged fourth place as per our marks-sheet, was declared the first prize. The explanation given by the organizer was not at all satisfactory, and hence as a protest we have returned back the honorarium and memontus,” said Faldesai.
Faldesai said now organizers are giving explanations that there were three more judges to judge the competition, but their names were kept in the dark till the controversy raised its head.
Reacting to the issue, Camilo Barretto, Councillor of the Margao civic body also expressed disappointment over altering the result.
"Why didn't those ghost judges sign the marks-sheet on the day of judgement? why were their names kept in the dark, and why not informed to us?", three panel judges questioned.
