PONDA: The Curti-Khandepar locals expressed concerns over the accident-prone median gaps on Curti-Kerya national highway. According to social worker, some of the open median gaps are proving to be accident-prone zone with several accidents caused at same spot in past.
Similarly, the median gap at Copperwada has also developed as an accident-prone spot where several accidents are reported. It is a transportation hub with the movement of trucks and other vehicles throughout with several internal roads connecting to the highway.
The four-member committee established by the government to look after safety should visit this accident-prone spot. Recently, this spot witnessed an accident between a truck and a car when the truck tried to take a U-turn at a median gap.
Accidents have been recurring at these spots and locals have demanded urgent inspection by the traffic team and suggest safety measures such as speed breakers, signboards, underpasses, or any other measures to slow down the speed of vehicles at median gaps to prevent accidents.
