PANJIM: With 23 COVID-19 positive cases, parts of Nerul village in Bardez have been declared as micro-containment zone and buffer zone.
North Goa Collector R Menaka, in an order issued on Sunday, declared Ward No 1 (Fattawada), in Nerul, comprising of 14 houses are declared as a micro containment zone, while the three more houses in the ward as buffer zone for being vulnerable to the spread of COVID.
An eight-member Rapid Response Team, headed by Bardez Deputy Collector, has been constituted to investigate the outbreak and initiate control measures by assessing the situation.
The North Goa Collector has ordered sealing of the micro-containment zone while banning movement of people in or out of the area except for medical emergencies and for maintaining supply of essential goods and services.
The Health Department has been directed to ensure that sufficient number of teams comprising medical, ANM are in place for door-to-door thermal screening in the containment zone and also for health check of sick persons.
The Collector has directed the concerned departments to ensure supply of essential commodities along with uninterrupted supply of power, water and telecom services.
“Any violation shall invite criminal proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the Indian Penal Code, 1860,” the Collector said.
