VASCO: One of the most awaited projects at Headland Sada, the market complex cum community hall is likely to come into the possession of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) by next week.
MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said that the civic body has decided to pay the transfer fee of Rs.22,000 to the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) and make the market complex operational as soon as possible.
Earlier, the project was delayed due to the non-payment of the transfer fee of the infrastructure built by The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) to MPDA.
Raut reiterated that they are likely to complete the transaction and take possession of the building to make it operational as early as possible.
As per the information given by the Municipal engineer, this project will house vegetable vendors, fish vendors, hawkers, and other miscellaneous outlets. The infrastructure is also expected to have a gymnasium, a community hall and other commercial shops in this multi-storey building, which has a parking facility at the lower level.
Official website of GSUDA mentions that the expenditure incurred for this project is Rs.2,30,85,304.
This project, which commenced in the year 2016, was almost ready by the year 2018 and questions were raised as to why it was not operational yet.
