TIVIM: Pernem Judicial Magistrate First Class Shreeram Prabhudesai has directed the police to register an FIR against three seaside resorts in Pernem taluka accused of playing loud music without permission and beyond permitted hours.
It may be recalled that last month, Pernem Deputy Collector Narayan Gad had issued a show-cause notice to a resort for playing loud music and had instructed the Pernem police to keep a strict vigil and take appropriate action against those who play music without permission.
Advocate Prasad Shahapurkar, a member of the taluka noise pollution monitoring committee informed Herald that the Pernem JMFC had directed the police to register the FIR against all those who had violated the law on playing of loud music beyond permitted hours.
“We had complained on February 6 with the Pernem police station and since we did not receive any favourable response from the police, we filed a complaint before the court on February 8 requesting it court to direct the police to register an FIR against the three resorts for playing loud music without permission on January 31 and February 2,” said Shahapurkar.
In its order, the court has directed the police “to register an FIR based on the complaint lodged by the applicants and investigate the matter thoroughly. The respondents are further directed to furnish detailed reports regarding the investigations done in the matter on or before the next date of hearing on March 20.”
