MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has called for making available expertise to self help groups (SHGs) to innovate their products.
He was speaking after the inauguration of the seven-day Rural Bazaar organized by the District Rural Development Agency at the Lohia Maidan here on Saturday.
He called upon the people to support the self help groups by visiting the exhibition-cum-sale and requested the District Collector to organize another bazaar at the same venue before May end.
In his address, Velim MLA Benjamin D’Silva underlined the need to take the Rural Bazaar concept to the villages of South Goa to give a big boost for the self help groups.
South Goa Zilla Chairperson said the proposal for a Rural Bazaar was mooted at the one of the district RDA’s Monitoring and Vigilance Committee meetings in order to give encouragement to the self help groups.
Benaulim MLA Caitu D’Silva was present along with district Collector N D Agrawal. DRDA Project Director Tawde welcomed the gathering.
Earlier, the special children of Gujarati Samaj School presented a welcome song and a dance to mark the inauguration of the seven-day Rural Bazaar.
