Traffic jams near Sai Service Porvorim

Herald Team
The ongoing construction of the third Mandovi bridge has thrown life on the Mapusa-Panjim route into chaos, with traffic jams becoming a regular feature near Sai Service, Porvorim during peak hours.
The construction of the pillars towards Porvorim attached with the flyover, has reduced the road width to single lane and hence has turned out to be a nightmare for the commuters.
The bridge work had begun almost two years ago and it is scheduled to get completed by May 2017. As the bridge layers are being set up, the existing NH road on the either side is likely to be narrow down further. Icing on the cake are the potholes.
With the increasing number of vehicles, the roads are unable to sustain the pressure resulting into poor condition. Neither GSIDC nor PWD is bothered to repair the roads, which is causing more hardships to the travellers.
Ever since the work on the third bridge has started, residents of Penha de Franca, especially, the residents of Supra Valley, Journalists Colony, Ekta Nagar, Pundalik Nagar and Secretariat areas are ‘suffering patiently’ due to the massive traffic jams.
