OLD GOA: The owner of Shell Top Inn Lenin Viegas was distraught that three of his workers lost their lives while undertaking cleaning of the hotel’s sewage treatment plant, a job he said they had done several times in the past.
“I used to employ professionals to undertake the STP cleaning, which is required to be done every two months,” Viegas stated while informing that since the past one year his workers had learnt the process and were doing it themselves, without any problems.
“However, today I don’t know what went wrong,” Viegas said and informed that he along with the other staff tried their level best to save the lives of the workers when the incident occurred.
When questioned whether he would compensate the families of the three workers, Viegas said he is duty bound to help the families in whatever way he can as the workers were like his family.
