CURCHOREM: The people of Curchorem on Friday welcomed the newly introduced biweekly train from Goa to Belgaum at Curchorem railway station.
The train arrived at around 1 pm at Curchorem railway station and it was received by Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chairman Balkrishna Pinty Hodarkar in the presence of BJP Mandal President Ashok Naik and other dignitaries.
After welcoming the Central Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, who was travelling by the same train, Hodarkar demanded that departure timing of the train from Vasco railway station be changed to 6.30 am from 4 pm so that people from Goa and vice-versa can travel during the day time and do their shopping and can return on the same day. Minister Angadi assured consider the demand.
According to Hodarkar, the train will temporarily ply on the route for only three months. Therefore he urged the minister to continue the train on regular basis so that people from Goa can travel comfortably to Belgaum and onwards destinations.
