PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has announced that in view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the State, the government has decided to resume telephone service for OPD appointments at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC).
“In our bid to ensure out-patient facilities are catered to without any hassle during this unprecedented time, it is advisable to book prior appointment,” he said. He also shared a poster that had various details like the phone numbers.
“To book an appointment at GMC OPD, kindly call 0832-2495301 /0832-2495331 /7588414291 /7558841924. In view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the State of Goa, it is advisable to book your appointments for OPD visits,” read the poster.
The poster also made an appeal to the members of the public to continue wearing their masks and maintain strict social distancing. The Health Minister also visited the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) that has a large number of COVID patients and where COVID testing also takes place.
He interacted with Medical Superintendent Dr Deepa Correia Afonso, Dr Rajesh Patil and other SGDH doctors as well as Jude Carvalho from Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), while reviewing the current status at SGDH.
“I took a complete review of the facilities, patients at the hospital as many patients were shifted from GMC. Our team is working persistently to ensure state-of-the-art facilities are provided to the citizens of Goa during this challenging time. We vow to work towards saving precious lives under the continuous guidance of Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and the Health Secretary,” Rane added.
