PANJIM: The Central government’s National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), which was introduced in the government high schools in 2016, seems to have helped the schools to achieve good percentile during the SSC examination. Total 31 government schools have secured 100 percent result as against 21 last year.
Also, there are four government schools with pass percentage of 95 percent and above, nine schools have scored between 75 percent to 94 percent and another five schools have secured 60 percent and above pass percentage.
Total 98 schools have secured 100 percent marks of which 67 are aided schools.
The data reveals that Sattari taluka has the highest number of schools (6) securing cent percent marks, followed by Canacona (5) and Bicholim (4). Sattari has total seven schools securing 100 percent score.
Mormugao is the only taluka that saw no government schools securing 100 percent result, while talukas like Salcete, having highest number of 15 schools with 100 percent result and Dharbandora has one school each.
Along with better quality education and facilities, the NSQF has played an important role. NSQF allows the students to opt for seventh subject that involves skill training in 14 streams like tourism, agriculture, hospitality, etc.  Of the six regular subjects and one NSQF subject, students have to clear any six to pass the SSC examination.
Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) chairman Ramakrishna Samant said the introduction of NSQF subject has helped the students from government schools to clear SSC examination.
“It is a Central government initiative and it has been of great help to students from government schools,” Samant said.
