One held for sex trade, two girls rescued

MAPUSA: Two girls in their twenties were rescued by Calangute police who also arrested one Shabbir Ahmed, 31, for using the girls in sex trade.
One of the rescued girls is from New Delhi, while the other is from Pune. They were procured by Ahmed, a resident of Ektanagar Housing Colony, Mapusa and Anurag alias Rehan.
The raid was conducted in the presence of NGO members near Calangute market in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
Shabbir was arrested at the spot when he had come to deliver the girls in a car to prospective customers. He was produced before the JMFC at Mapusa who remanded him in police custody for five days. Intelligence is being collected about the second accused so as to apprehend him.  
The victims were produced before the SDM, Mapusa and lodged in the Protective Home at Merces.
