PANJIM: The controversy surrounding the sordid political family drama at the Rane’s of Sattari refuses to die down. A Day after 83-year-old Pratapsingh Rane, backed out of the electoral race against his daughter in law at Poriem, the first time in five decades, his party desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao hit out at Vishwajit Rane, alleging that he came in the way of his father’s politics and forced him out.

Dinesh Rao told Herald TV in an interview “Pratapsingh Rane wanted to contest, and his name was announced after that. His name was not on the first list. He later asked for his name to be released and we accordingly informed the Congress president and released his name.  He was very keen to content and to date, he is still keen”. He further added, “There has been huge pressure… within the family whereby he has been forced not to contest

Clearly pointing towards a possible family conflict between the Congress and the BJP members of the family, Gundu Rao said “Perhaps at this stage of his life he (Pratapsingh Rane) did not want to have a public spat with his son or maybe the son used other ways and means … it is very unfortunate. The son should have respected the father and allowed his father’s wishes and not come in the way”
