PERNEM: In yet another tragic accident on NH-66 at Sukekolan-Dhargalim in Pernem, young Pune native lost his life and two other were seriously injured.
The accident occurred Wednesday morning at around 9 am when the Maharashtra registered car bearing registration number MH-12-HZ- 1419 which was proceeding from Dhargal towards Patradevi direction collided head-on with a crane which was moving in the opposite direction on the same lane.
The impact of the collision was such that driver of the car Ricky Ravi Binawat (25) native of Pune, Maharashtra died on the spot while other two occupants of the Swift car, identified as Nidhi Rahul Godse (27) and Sunil Prakash Kharat (37), both natives of Pune, Maharashtara sustained serious injuries.
Pernem police have booked Suraj Motilal Sahani (24) native of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, driver of Hydraulic Mobile crane for driving in rash and negligent manner, endangering life and safety of others without taking proper care and caution. Sahani fled away from the spot immediately without taking care of the injured persons and without informing to the Police. He was later placed under arrest.
Meanwhile, locals present that the site blamed the highway authorities carrying out the work of Mopa-link road for the accident. Locals claimed that due to the ongoing work of link road, several heavy vehicles frequent on this particular area, however, no necessary precautions are being taken nor there is any security or police deployed for traffic management. Despite the work of link road progressing in full swing, motorists drive their vehicles at very high speeds.
