Saligao to get new PHC

SALIGAO: On Tuesday the Saligao MLA and Minister for Housing, Jayesh Salgaonkar revealed the village is all set to get a new Primary Health Centre (PHC) and the land for the same has been allocated by the Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane.
The people of Saligao have to travel to the Candolim PHC to avail of medical facilities which is their basic requirement. The local MLA decided to set up this PHC on a plot of land donated by the Saligao Communidade.
“The 20 bedded PHC will be equipped with the latest equipment, testing lab and a 108 ambulance service which will be continuously available for the people. Currently we have a small health centre in the village. A rural medical dispensary has also been proposed to be set up in Pilerne,” pointed out Jayesh on the sidelines after laying the foundation stone for laying of pavers outside the Saligao Village Panchayat.  
The works of laying of pavers on the muddy floor leading to the panchayat that is causing inconvenience to the locals is also going to commence shortly. The estimated cost of the works is around Rs. 40 lakhs.
