PANJIM: The sitting and former legislators shared their piece of mind with the BJP government. They expressed serious concern about the decline of Goa in all senses of the term. The three most important issues flagged by sitting and former legislators which included former Chief Justice of High Court, former Union Minister and former MP among other MLAs and ex MLAs.
In this edition of Street Voices we asked people whether the issues red flagged by ex legislators regarding sale of land, casino menace and loss of Mhadei waters, critical to Goa?
Definitely these issues are very critical. The question whether these past MLAs were responsible for laying the foundation for what is happening today and the future disaster. Very pertinent to note was the observation made by the former Chief Justice of High Court Ferdino Rebello that it was a shame to see MLAs involved in supporting amendments to the laws for converting the land and other maters are concerned.
Trajano said it is a disgrace that these same MLAs applied for land conversion. He fell short of saying that most of the MLAs today, maybe from the ruling or the Opposition have become brokers for land conversion and other facilities for real estate giants coming from outside Goa.
Trajano D'Mello Political Commentator
These issues are critical but why were the former MLAs rejected? Because they did not perform. What is the implication that even the present MLAs are not performing. But how are they getting elected? The coming of offshore in 1990 was a great since. But no Goan took this seriously. Do you know who will have to suffer for the casinos which have come now? It will be our future generation.
I have not seen a single sewage truck going to pick up sewage from the casinos. Where are they letting out the sewage? People have seen that the sewage is being pumped into the water between 2.30am and 4.30am. It will not take time to destroy the Mandovi river.
