PANJIM: App-based cab aggregator Uber has commenced its operations in the State from July 20, even as the Directorate of Transport claimed that no permission has been granted to the company.
The service is presently limited to pick-up and drop off at both the international Airport - Dabolim and Mopa. The company also announced on its official handle.
Due to several complaints of overcharging for taxi services, the government had time and again warned the taxi operators of permitting cab taxi aggregators from outside the State. Uber had in the past tried to start its operations in the State.
The GoaMiles app-based taxi service is already operational in the State since 2019. However, officials of Department of Transport stated that no permission has granted to Uber App taxi service in the State and that action will be initiated against the company.
