Union Minority Affairs Min, CM inaugurate Hunar Haat

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the 28th Hunar Haat of indigenous artisans and craftsmen at Kala Academy, Campal, on Saturday, in the presence of Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

Union Minister of State (MoS) for AYUSH and Defence Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, Lok Sabha MP Francisco Sardinha, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, Union Minority Affairs Ministry Secretary P K Das, Senior Additional Secretary S K Dev Verman, MANAS Chairman P K Thakur and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Naqvi said, “Hunar Haat is a perfect, popular and proud platform for indigenous artistry and crafts of the country.”

He added that Hunar Haat, that is being organised at different places across the country, has received tremendous encouragement as more than 5.5 lakh artisans, craftsmen and other people associated with them have been provided employment and employment opportunities.

Naqvi added that the Hunar Haat is available on a virtual and an online platform as well as on GeM Portal also where the people of the country and abroad can buy products of indigenous artisans and craftsmen digital/online.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said that Hunar Haat is playing a pivotal role in fulfilling government’s commitment to “Swadeshi”. 

He added that it has strengthened the commitment to “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” and has been providing financial benefits to needy artisans and craftsmen. 

“Hunar Haat is not only promoting artisans and craftsmen, it is also promoting the tourism sector of Goa. It’s being organised across the country with the commitment to ‘Jaan Bhi, Jahaan Bhi’,” said the Chief Minister.
