PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday handed over the initial letter of land allotment to Zen Technologies, a defence equipment manufacturing company, to establish a Research and Development facility at the Tuem Electronic Manufacturing Cluster.

Zen Technologies will establish a manufacturing facility which will focus on electronic simulators and drone technology.

Information Technology (IT) Minister Rohan Khaunte and Infotech Corporation of Goa chairman and MLA Chandrakant Shetye were also present.

Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Zen Technologies Ltd under which the company will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Goa focused on electronic simulators and drone technology, aligned with Make In India.

With an initial investment of Rs 50 crore and massive export potential, the upcoming Tuem Electronic Manufacturing facility will provide direct employment opportunities for around 800 people.

The Chief Minister said the company will provide training to those Goan engineering students, who are in their final year of education. This will be done from next educational year, he added.

“This will make those students skilled in a year or two and they can be recruited by the company if it requires manpower. Similarly, students of Aviation Skill Centre will also be provided training. It is a big opportunity for engineering and ITI students,” the Chief Minister said.
