Royla replies to charter of demands
At least one of the 12 candidates in fray for Benaulim Assembly seat replied to the ‘Charter of Demands’ made by Carmona villagers by Wednesday. The villagers had expressed concern after none had replied to their demand till Monday. However, by Wednesday AAP candidate for Benaulim Royla Fernandes sent in her reply to the ‘charter of demands.’ On mega housing project, Royla said, “AAP plans to release the RP21 within a year of coming to power, and everyone will be taken into confidence.” 
Hema Sardesai resigns as election icon
After having been accused of campaigning for Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, singer Hema Sardesai has resigned as special icon for the 2017 State Legislative Assembly elections.
Social activist Aires Rodrigues, in his complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer, had accused Sardesai of campaigning for Parrikar in the past. He had also cited a post by Sardesai on a social networking site praising Parrikar.
State Chief Electoral Officer Kunal said they have received Sardesai’s resignation, which is under consideration. “In her resignation, Sardesai has clarified that she is not a member of any political party and had met Parrikar to discuss Goan issues,” he said. 

Trajano attacks Cong, says it has sold secular Goa to BJP
GPCC Spokesperson Trajano D’Mello on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on his party. Addressing the media, D’Mello said, “The secular people of Goa have been sold to the communal BJP by the Congress leadership.” D’Mello said that in Mandrem a BJP man was brought in at the last minute and given the Congress ticket in 2012 after adjustments with the then BJP candidate (present Chief Minister) allowing him to win, the BJP man left the Congress to join the BJP again.
