A 25 year old Rushikesh Pagi, resident of Agondad, allegedly assaulted Police Sub Inspector Suhas Velip and Constable Akshay Naik from Canacona police station while they were executing their duties. The incident led to the filing of charges under Sections 323, 324, 332, 353, 504, and 506 (ii) of the IPC against Pagi.
According to reports, Pagi verbally abused and physically assaulted the officers, threatening dire consequences during the incident at Devanbag, Dhawalkhajan in Agonda. Constable Akshay Naik reported being kicked and choked by Pagi, while PSI Suhas Velip sustained injuries to his face and chest, including a bite.
Both officers received medical attention at Canacona Health Center, and their statements have been recorded. Despite the arrest, Rushikesh Pagi was subsequently released under orders from the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Canacona.
Reports suggest this altercation followed an earlier incident where Pagi got into an argument with a rickshaw driver. The driver faced assault, prompting a separate non-cognizable offense to be filed. Assistant Sub Inspector Netaji Dessai is currently investigating the matter under PI Chandrakhant Gawas's supervision.
