In a shocking incident, a mass robbery took place at Mapusa wherein four Xerox shops located at Mamlatdar were burgled. As per the shop owners, the incident occurred on Sunday late at night. The burglars stole all the money and left the shops in shackles destroying everything.
On Monday morning when the owners of the Xerox shops that sell legal documents and provide documents photocopies, arrived to open their shops, they were left in shock to see their shops being ransacked.
The owners claim that the shop’s lock was broken by the burglars. One surprising fact is that all the money was stolen but all the electronic gadgets like laptops, computers and printers were left untouched. The owners state that the amount kept in the shop was not much as only coins were kept.
Nanda Mandrekar, one of the burglary victims, stated that he was the first to notice the burglary and immediately called his fellow shop owners. “As soon as I was aware of the burglary, I informed the three shop owners about the burglary. Looking at the situation, it looks like the thieves wanted only money. It’s shocking to believe that burglary on such great extent took place at government property.”
The shop owners expressing their plight urged that the officials take note of this situation. They demanded the police authorities to conduct a night patrolling and a facility of CCTV surveillance.
