The "Goa Codes" competition, led by the Project Management Unit’s (PMU) Coding and Robotics Education in Schools (CARES) Scheme in Goa, is a block based coding event organized for students in Standards VI, VII, and VIII. This competition is exclusively crafted for those who have opted for the Class VI Elective Curriculum for the current academic year. The competition emphasizes on the computational thinking abilities of students through Block Based coding methodologies.
The competition unfolds across three phases:
Phase I: Lead School Level
Phase II: Taluka Level
Phase III: State Level
At the Lead School and Taluka levels, students participate individually, whereas at the State level, the top two winners from the Taluka level join forces as a team. Each student is limited to submitting just one project, utilizing a Block Based interface.
Phase I of the "Goa Codes 2024" competition, that is the Lead School Level, unfolded successfully across 110 lead schools from 4th March 2024, to 16th March 2024. The theme for Phase I was "Coding Adventures: Craft an interactive story using the available extensions in block". This theme encouraged students to use their creativity and the concepts they’ve learned in school to create interactive stories. The objective of this phase of the competition was to provide an initial platform for students to showcase their coding and creative skills.
CARES is delighted to announce that over 4000+ students from Standards VI, VII, and VIII and enrolled in the Class VI Elective Curriculum, enthusiastically took part in the Phase I of "Goa Codes 2024" competition. From each lead school, 5 winners were selected, resulting in a total of 550 winners from across Goa who qualified for Phase II of the competition.
The theme for Phase II is "Eco-Tech Vision: Showcase your vision for a sustainable future." This theme requires students to underscore the significance of environmental conservation.
