Goa Forward Party submitted a memorandum on Wednesday to the Directorate of Health Services in Panjim. The memorandum emphasised the urgent need for the swift completion and commissioning of the Tuem Hospital project.

During the submission of the memorandum, Deepak Kalangutkar stressed the critical role that Tuem Hospital would play in enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services in the region. The party cited the increasing healthcare requirements of the local population and the necessity for a fully functional medical facility to cater to the growing health demands.

The memorandum submitted by the Goa Forward Party outlined the specific challenges and bottlenecks that might be hindering the progress of the Tuem Hospital project. The party urged the Directorate of Health Services to intervene promptly, ensuring that all obstacles are addressed and necessary steps are taken to expedite the completion and commissioning of the healthcare facility.

Kalangutkar said that they have been giving the date for the completion of the work for a long time. The recent date which was given was 26th January, but as of now nothing has been done there, Kalangutkar said. He further said that the elected representative of that area has been assuring the commencement of the hospital soon, but the electrification work, plumbing, and staff recruitment nothing has been done.

He further stressed that the hospital was initially supposed to open in 2019 but so far nothing has been done. The initial estimated cost of this project was 48 crores but it has soared to 52 crores now, and sadly the project is still not ready.

Kalangutkar further criticised the government for spending crores of rupees on decorations along the road for big events but not prioritising people’s health.  Members of the party expressed optimism that the timely completion of the Tuem Hospital would significantly contribute to the improvement of healthcare accessibility and quality in the region. They also emphasized the potential positive impact on the overall well-being of the local residents.

The Directorate of Health Services assured the Goa Forward Party representatives that the concerns raised in the memorandum would be given due consideration, and all possible measures would be taken to accelerate the completion of the Tuem Hospital project.
