The news of an alleged case of molestation involving a senior IPS
officer at a renowned nightclub in Baga spread like fire on Wednesday. The
incident is said to have occurred late on Tuesday night, when an inebriated
officer engaged in a heated altercation with a woman and her companion.
According to sources, the officer, who had recently been posted in
Goa, was reportedly inebriated when the incident took place. Witnesses claim
that a dispute escalated between the officer and the woman, leading to the
alleged molestation. The Goa Police department has initiated an internal
investigation to thoroughly probe the matter.
The alleged incident has brought about strong reactions. Fatorda
MLA, Vijai Sardessai, expressed his outrage, stating that such instances
tarnish the image of Goa and its police force. " These officers come to
Goa for retirement and go on picnics. These officers get 'drunk' and roam
around the city. I will take up the issue in the assembly today and demand for
immediate recall of the IPS officer. This is a blot on the Goa Police",
stated Sardesai.
The Goa Tourism Minister also weighed in on the matter,
emphasizing the need for decisive action against those found guilty of acting
immorally. The Minister assured the public that he would personally communicate
with the Chief Minister regarding the alleged misbehavior of the senior IPS officer
at a club in Calangute.
