Kerala Fireworks Mishap Near Veerarkavu Temple Leaves Over 150 Injured, 8 Critical

Kerala fire: The fire started close to the Veerarkavu Temple in Kasaragod, Kerala. Hospitals in Mangaluru, Kannur, and Kasargod have received the injured.

A fireworks accident during a temple festival near Neeleswaram in Kasaragod, Kerala, late Monday injured over 150 people, including eight critically. Numerous hospitals in Kasargod, Kannur, and Mangaluru have received the injured. The accident is thought to have happened when a fireworks storage facility close to Veerarkavu Temple caught fire. According to a report, the accident happened at midnight.

Eyewitnesses state that, a misfired cracker struck a building that held explosives during a fireworks display at the Moolamkuzhi Chamundi Theyyam festival in Nileshwar, Kasaragod district, Kerala. Women and children who had gathered nearby to watch the Theyyam performance were among the many bystanders injured when the ensuing explosion started a massive fire.

According to reports, five patients who were admitted to the Kanhangad district hospital are in extremely critical condition. Thirty-three people were admitted to the district hospital, nineteen to Aishal Hospital in Kanhangad, and twelve to Arimala Hospital, according to other sources.
Sanjeevani Hospital has admitted forty patients, while Nileshwar Taluk Hospital has admitted eleven and Aster MIMS Hospital in Kannur has admitted five. The district administration reports that more injured people have been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Pariyaram, Kannur, as well as hospitals in Mangaluru.
