Sumit Antil Breaks World Record to Claim Gold at Hangzhou Asian Para Games Javelin F64 Event

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Sumit Antil, the reigning Paralympics champion, secured a gold medal in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games javelin throw F64 event, setting a new world record with an astonishing throw of 73.29m. This achievement surpassed his own previous world record of 70.83m, which he had established while claiming gold at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris earlier this year.

Pushpendra Singh, another talented Indian athlete, delivered an impressive performance, earning a bronze medal with a throw covering a distance of 62.06m. Meanwhile, Samitha Arachchige Kodithuwakku of Sri Lanka demonstrated exceptional prowess and secured the silver medal with a throw covering 64.09m.

Sumit Antil had previously clinched gold in the men's javelin F64 event at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, setting a world record with a throw of 68.55m at that time. This latest victory marks India's 10th gold medal at the ongoing Hangzhou Asian Para Games, contributing to the country's total medal count, which now stands at an impressive 36.
