Violent Altercation Erupts at Down Town Club in Baga: Three Arrested for Assault and Vandalism

Calangute:In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the early hours of Friday, three individuals were apprehended by the Calangute police for allegedly causing havoc at the Down Town club located on Tito's Lane in Baga. The arrests were made in connection with charges of assaulting club bouncers and causing damage to the property after being denied entry.

According to reports, the tumultuous episode transpired around 3 am when the suspects attempted to gain entry into the Down Town club. The vigilant security bouncers, identified as Vijay and Bhavani, prevented their unauthorized access, leading to a violent confrontation.

The suspects, later identified as Nilesh Patil and Durgadas Morajkar from Arpora, along with Sushil Mahipal from Nagoa, allegedly resorted to assaulting the two bouncers using iron rods and wooden sticks. The aggression escalated as they purportedly shattered the glass door of the club and wreaked havoc on the premises, including smashing the counter.

Following the altercation, the injured bouncers were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Subsequently, the Tuff Security Agency manager, Ganesh Patil, lodged a complaint leading to the arrests of the three suspects.

The Calangute police have registered offenses under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 452 (House-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Investigations into the matter are being conducted by Calangute Police Inspector Paresh Naik and Paresh Sinari.

In light of recent incidents involving altercations between bouncers and tourists, the police have issued a cautionary advisory to restaurant owners, urging them to prioritize the safety and well-being of tourists and refrain from engaging in harassing behavior.
