Review: ‘Amche Vattechem Jevonn’ is all about good, bad and ugly relations. This drama efficiently projects the changes that occur in relationships when a third party is added to the equation.
Here, when Roy realises that he has failed drastically in obtaining what he desired, despite being a business partner with Mira D’Melo (Cinet), he seeks ways to destroy what never belonged to him. Roy is willing to go to any lengths to extract revenge and he uses his rival’s physically challenged brother, Frazer (Manu), as his weapon, using him to create a rift between Cleton and the family. But will the wicked ploy serve to Roy’s advantage and satisfaction? Watch this tiatr to know who wins and who loses in the concluding court scene.
‘Amche Vattechem Jevonn’ has good ingredients like sparkling dialogues, comedy and songs. Dominic Carvalho has scripted his tiatr quite intelligently and displayed it on stage diligently. Key performances stand out. But among all the characters, Manu is the scene-stealer for his portrayal of a physically challenged person. Baptista is commanding as the husband at home and then as the advocate in court. Jakhi as the head of the family could have been more forceful with his body language. Andrew as the advocate-cum-social worker, Anthony de Verna as inspector and Dominic Carvalho as professor are impressive. Rita, Cinet and Riza extend good support to the entire cast.
In the comic acts, Pascoal (Rumaldo), Ritin (Sandra), Basappa (Ronny) and Patrao (Jose Mari) make good efforts for a laughter riot. The migrants’ impact on the Goans has been well highlighted.
Songs rendered by Reginaldo de Panchwadi, Anthony de Madel, Baptista, Saby de Divar, C D’Silva, Rahul, Benny de Aldona, Rita/Sandra, Marques have meaningful themes and messages. C D’Silva’s two solos prove that he continues to be ‘evergreen’ on the Konkani stage. But a duet went amiss in the category of soulful songs. The musicians under the guidance of Thomas/Cristo have provided captivating music. The light effects and stage sets were effective.
But mostly, ‘Amchem Vattechem Jevonn’ is a good family entertainer with a good storyline, melodious songs and cool comedy, all wrapped in one.
