Story: Extra-marital relations spell doom in Derick’s (Jose) family life after his involvement with Audry (Sonia) overseas. His faithful spouse Simonia (Olga) is left high and dry at her in-laws’ place with a false promise. What will be the consequences?
Review: Conception de Tuem’s first tiatr, ‘BailekDukh, KumarikSukh’, dedicated to late William de Curtorim, focuses on extra-marital relations and their ill-effects on families.
Patrick (Pascoal) and Mable (Chitra) are blessed with three sons – Derick (Jose), Daryl (Peter) and Dominic (Edel). While Derick, the eldest, has a decent job overseas, Daryl paves his way to priesthood and Dominic pursues his further studies in engineering in Bangalore.
After a love affair with Simonia (Olga), Derickmarries her before flying off to Dubai. Blessed with a decent job, comfortable stay and all luxuries of life, Derick is unable to stay faithful to his wife and instantly gets involved with Audry (Sonia).
Meanwhile, back home, faithful Simonia longs for a call from her husband, but that is not to be. A little later, she gives birth to a girl child Sonia (Avila) and hopes for support from her husband but once again, she is left empty-handed.
Will Derick ever return to his roots? If at all he does, what will the confrontation at home turn out to be? And what about his new found love? Will she be accepted or rejected?
Conception de Tuem has handled a very sensitive issue (which is quite common in Goan families) rather well. He has highlighted the disasters that strike families when fidelity becomes a toy in the hands of the people entrusted with the relationship.
Except for a few hitches, due to lack of coordination between the artistes, and the sets of scenes laid down for the entire drama, the storyline flows with good acts and dialogue delivery.
Pascoal and Chitra pair well as husband and wife. Peter and Edel deliver their short acts comfortably. Jose and Sonia shine in the main and negative roles respectively. Andrew is impressive in his negative character. But among all, Olga wins sympathy for her tragic character. Child artiste,Avila is supportive with her role.
Comic interludes by Joana, Jane, Humbert and Luis Bachan evoke considerable laughter  Political songs by Conception de Tuem, Olga, Saby de Divar and Jose/Conception/Conny receive an encore.
