CHANDOR: Top seed Anaya Shukla will face second seed Shaurya Dessai in the U-11 girls final of 5th Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, being held at the Chandor Club Multipurpose Hall, on Saturday.
Anaya defeated Claire George 3-0 in the semi-final, while Shaurya downed Tvisha Kotkar 3-0 to set up their much-anticipated clash in the title match. Earlier in the quarter-finals, Claire edged past Aarna Walavalkar 3-2, Tvisha overcame Tasha Mascarenhas 3-1, and Shaurya dispatched Sanaz Shaikh 3-0. Anaya, the top seed, progressed via a bye.
In the U-13 girls round of 16, the action was equally intense with Sachi Dessai, Gianna George, Aayushi Amonkar, Kavyaa Khalap, Tisha Shaikh, Inara D’Souza, Aarna Lotlikar and Evangeline Rodrigues advancing to the quarter-finals.
Earlier, the tournament, organised by Chandor Club, was inaugurated by a Margao-based doctor and table tennis player Dr Brennon Tavares, in the presence of Goa Table Tennis Association President Sudin Verenkar, Chandor Club President Egidio Da Costa and Organising Secretary Santosh Verenkar.
