RAIA: ABC Sports Club Arambol stormed into the finals of the 46th Cana Benaulim soccer championship with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Augustas SC Pomburpa, in the second semi-final, played at the Panchayat ground, Benaulim.
Arambol broke the deadlock just before the interval, with Pranesh finishing off a swift counter-attack. In the second half, Pomburpa pressed forward through Raju Padashi and Anford Fernandes, but failed to convert their chances. Arambol goalkeeper Deitmar Fernandes produced several key saves to deny the opposition.
Arambol extended their lead through Cupriano, who converted a penalty after being fouled in the box. The result was sealed in the 53rd minute when Myson Britto converted a second spot-kick.
Despite late efforts from Pomburpa, Arambol’s defence, led by Sanford and Vivek, held firm. The win sends Arambol into Sunday’s finale.
