Aryna Sabalenka successfully defended her U.S. Open crown on Saturday (September 6, 2025), defeating American eighth seed Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6(3) in the women’s singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The Belarusian star, now a four-time Grand Slam champion, became the first woman to win back-to-back U.S. Opens since Serena Williams’ three-title run from 2012 to 2014. Her victory further solidified her reputation as the dominant force on hard courts, having reached every hardcourt Slam final since 2022.
Sabalenka’s disciplined play made the difference, she committed only 15 unforced errors compared to Anisimova’s 29. After sealing the win with an unreturnable serve, the 27-year-old dropped to her knees before celebrating with her team in sheer delight.
For Anisimova, competing in just her second major final, the loss was another heartbreak following her Wimbledon defeat earlier this summer. The 24-year-old American acknowledged the disappointment but said reaching back-to-back finals was still a big step in her career.
