UTORDA: Betalbatim Sports Club got the better of Social Cultural Club, Loutolim 4-2 to move into the semi-finals of the 26th Lourdes festival all Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Bernard Custodio D’Souza organised by United Club of Utorda in association with Sports Authority of Goa, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Saturday.
Betalbatim Sports Club made the first move in the fifth minute when Dylan Rodrigues’ shot was well saved by the Loutolim goalkeeper Meiben Fernandes by chipping the ball resulting in a corner-kick.
Loutolim’s best opportunity came at 20th minute as Mark Revlon gave an accurate pass to Shawn Noronha who had only the goalkeeper to beat but went close to the side bar.
Betalbatim Sports Club converted from the spot-kick through Klusner Pereira in the 22nd minute.
Loutolim mounted tremendous pressure and in the 25th minute Sandi Konde equalise after an assist by Shawn Noronha
Post resumption, both teams dished out attacking tactics and Betalbatim surged into the lead through Clifford Miranda in the 48th minute and in the 53th minute Dylan Rodrigues increased the tally after a cross pass from Oliver D’Sousa. Clifford Miranda hammered the final goal in the 60th minute for Betalbatim.
Mark Fernandes reduced the margin in the 65th minute. Betalbatim Sports club will now meet Uguem Rising Club in the semi-finals on October 27.
