SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal registered a strong start to their campaign with a win over Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim in the round one of U-15 Girls Sapphire Division of the Next Gen League 3.0 - Inter-School Football and Futsal League organised by The King’s Sports Academy with The King’s School at the The King’s School ground, here, on Friday.
Ania Sawant delivered an exceptional performance and was named the player-of-the-match.
In Group A, round one of U-17 Boys Division, Immaculate Conception High School, Paroda, defeated AIM High School, Navelim, with Ayush Kalekar playing a crucial role in the win and earning the player-of-the-match award.
In round one of the U-17 Girls Diamond Division, Rosary High School, Navelim, and St Rita High School, Curtorim, played out a competitive draw, showcasing solid team play from both sides.
Rachel Pires of Rosary High School was recognised as the player-of-the-match for her impactful performance.
Earlier, in the second phase, the Sapphire Division saw Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna, defeat Rosary High School, Navelim in their opening fixture, with Ashton Souza earning the player-of-the-match award for his outstanding performance.
In the Topaz Division, AIM High School, Davorlim secured a win over St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda, with Zeeshan Bepari taking home player-of-the-match honours for his influential role in the game.
The top-performing teams have been reorganised into four competitive divisions - Diamond, Sapphire, Emerald, and Topaz, creating an exciting new phase of league football among South Goa’s school teams.
The Diamond Division features The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal; Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim; Our Lady of Succour High School, Verna; and St Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor.
The Sapphire Division includes St Pius X Convent High School, Orlim; Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna; Rosary High School, Navelim; and Mount Mary’s High School, Chinchinim.
In the Emerald Division are Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna; Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal; St Anthony’s High School, Cuncolim; and St Jude’s High School, Betalbatim. The Topaz Division comprises Marina English High School, Verna; AIM High School, Davorlim; St Anne’s Institute, Agonda, and Immaculate Conception High School, Paroda.
