MARGAO: Bhatikar Model English High School defeated Mahila Nutan English High School by108 runs to clinch the 16th Mukund Trikkanad Memorial Under-16 cricket trophy organized by Margao Cricket Club, at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, Fatorda, recently.
Bhatikar Model HS batted first, scoring 249 runs losing five wickets in 40 overs with half centuries from Pralav Kerkar and HT Ganesh.
In reply, Mahila Nutan HS scored 141 runs losing five wickets in 40 overs with Mohit Redkar top scoring with 50 runs.
MLA of Fatorda Constituency Vijay Sardesai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Babita Angle, Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council; C.K. Kamath, C. Ashok, Dinesh Trikkanad and other dignitaries.
Individual prizes were awarded: Best Batsman Rahul Mehta (Bhatikar Model), Best bowler Manchit Naik (Mahila Nutan), Man-of-the-Match Pralav Kerkar (Mahila Nutan), Best All-Rounder Digesh Raikar (Bhatikar Model), Best Fielders Kunal Naik Gaonkar (Bhatikar Model) and Kanishk Maasurkar (Mahila Nutan).Special prizes were given to Kaushal Hattangadi and Rahul Mehta for excelling in Under-14 and Under-16 categories in the 2015-16 cricket season.
