Campal Indoor Stadium to get a make-over: SAG

PANJIM: As Goa gears up for the 36th National Games, the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) is all set to upgrade the Indoor Stadium, Campal, which is one of the selected venues.

PANJIM: As Goa gears up for the 36th National Games, the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) is all set to upgrade the Indoor Stadium, Campal, which is one of the selected venues. 
Around 9,000 athletes are expected to participate in approximately 33 different disciplines to be hosted at various venues across the State. 
Speaking to Herald, SAG Civil Engineer J.N. Chimulkar informed, “The master plan is already been finalised and that we are waiting for the final CRZ clearance, after which ground work is expected to start by September this year.”
He stated, “The refurbished Indoor Stadium building will have a ground-cum-first floor, with all the state-of-the-art facilities in view of the games.”
He further added that there will be two changing rooms, a gym, fitness centre, equipment store, canteen, kitchen, toilets, medical, doping and technical rooms; boxing, badminton, table tennis arenas, a viewing gallery for the spectators with 400 capacity and independent entrance lobbies for the players, spectators and VIPs.
He said, in addition to this, there will be three lawn tennis courts adjacent the building and added current Campal ground will be utilised for hosting baseball matches with temporary seating arrangement for the spectators during the games.
Chimulkar however said that the project is expected to be completed by August 2017.
